Insight Meditation Australia Teacher

Robyn Gibson
Picture
Insight Tradition
Robyn has been practicing and studying meditation for 30 years, predominantly in the Mahasi lineage of Theravadan Buddhism. Patrick Kearney and Carol Perry are her principal teachers and mentors.

Authorised to teach in 2015, Robyn leads one-day and multi-day retreats, women’s circles, dharma yatras (meditation pilgrimages) and online meditation courses. Her teaching approach brings together the radical teachings of freedom through embodied presence that the Buddha taught, deep ecology and other nature-based practices, and creative expression – allowing for inquiry into what it means to live a full and just human life on this earth, and how to face the challenges of our current times with courage and integrity.

Currently the guiding teacher for Goldfields Insight Meditation in central Victoria, and a committee member of Melbourne Insight Meditation, Robyn facilitated sitting groups and managed retreats for many years, and was EO of Melbourne Insight Meditation for three years. She graduated from IMI’s four-year Insight Dharma Teacher pathway in 2024 as an Insight Dharma teacher.

Robyn was born and grew up on Tyerrernotepanner Country in northern Tasmania, and now lives on Djaara Country in the Goldfields region of central Victoria. She ran a successful, award-winning sustainable building design practice with her partner for 25 years, and has been a printmaker/artist for 30 years.
