This Retreat is an opportunity to stop and enter the stillness that brings forth our innate wisdom, equanimity and connection with all of life, particularly in difficult times.

This retreat will include meditation instructions on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness and the Anapanasati Sutta: the body, feelings, mind and dharmas plus meditation periods of sitting and walking, Dharma talks, mindfulness work periods, individual and group interviews.

Deepening into stillness allows us to examine and transform the habitual limited patterns of mind that create confusion, anxiety and suffering. The retreat will support inquiry into what it means to be awake, what takes us out of that state and how to remain more fundamentally present and alive in our daily lives and relationships.

Cultivating Insight, Compassion and Wisdom
May 22-23 9.00am to 4.00pm each day
A two-day non-residential workshop at Sangsurya Meditation Centre, Byron Bay

This weekend workshop will use an interactive teaching style with periods of silence, including both walking and sitting meditation instruction, mixed with dynamic group work and opportunities for individual reflection.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided but please bring your own cushion.
Presented by Radha Nicholson and Karuna Fielden

Radha Nicholson teaches the cultivation of wisdom and compassion through Insight. Her teachings focus on Inquiry and the non-dual nature of reality.

She is a guiding teacher for Bay Insight in Byron Bay and teaches retreats internationally in India, Australia, Germany and Israel. She has also been a guest teacher in France, Palestine, the UK, USA and New Zealand.

Radha is a registered counselling psychologist but has retired from clinical practice. Radha is the mother of four children and also has grandchildren.

Karuna Fielden is an experienced group facilitator and leader, with wide experience in the community sector as a manager of multidisciplinary teams. Karuna has over 30 years of experience advocating for and providing services for women, families, young people and children and has also facilitated men’s anti-violence programs.

She has been a Dharma practitioner for 46 years in both the Mahayana and Insight traditions and has a focus on compassion in her practice.

Sangsurya Retreat Centre is a Covid Safe Organisation but please do not attend if you are unwell or have been in contact with other others in a designated Covid hotspot.

Cultivating Serenity, Insight and the Heart Qualities

Onsite venue: Mt Carmel Retreat Centre, Varroville, (outskirts of Sydney) NSW, Australia.

This retreat will have both onsite residential and online options as well as the option to attend 7 days or 10 days.  The online component of this course will be completely dana based.  The onsite component will require payment for food and accommodation. The teaching will be provided as dana.

This retreat will be based on Theravada Buddhist meditation practices. It will focus on training in the cultivation of mindfulness (sati), focussed attention (samadhi), and the four divine abodes (loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity).

There will be evening talks (7:00pm) and workshop style morning instruction (9:00am) with Mal as well as some talks, instruction and morning yoga sessions (6:15am) with Lisa. Short individual interviews with Mal will be possible after the first weekend.
