Lizzie Turnbull PhD
Lizzie began practising in Tibetan Buddhism in 1985 and then the Zen and Insight traditions. Prior to her commitment to the Buddhist path she had developed an interest in Vedanta and Western philosophy which continues to inform her ongoing inquiry. She pursues a non-sectarian, contemporary approach to understanding and expressing the Buddha Dharma while remaining grounded in classical teachings.
Lizzie developed an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the human condition in her years of academic training, research and teaching. She earned a PhD in Sociology and then trained initially in somatic psychotherapy. These perspectives inform her approach to teaching meditation.
Lizzie teaches retreats and guides the Flowing Mountain Meditation Group in Brunswick Heads NSW. She trains and supervises in somatic and mindfulness-based psychotherapies and has a private psychotherapy practice in the Byron Shire.
