Heartwood Insight Canberra
The Friends Meeting House, 17 Bent Street, Turner Canberra
‘Knowing the way by heart’
A day of Mindful awareness based on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness
14th March 2016.
You are invited to share in a day of silence and mindful communication at The Friends Meeting House, 17 Bent Street, Turner. Canberra from 9am to 5pm. We will explore through a range of meditation techniques natural ways of being. We will use Mindfulness of breathing and body as gentle reminders of the simplicity and beauty of existence. We will explore our feelings of dissatisfaction and worry, by sitting with body/mind sensations without judging, as they arise. In this way we will work towards being more in touch and grounded and able to recognise thought patterns and processes which are not useful and create suffering for ourselves and others. This day of mindfulness practice offers the opportunity to establish a deep connection to an expansive silence and awareness based on Buddhist ethics and philosophy.
The day of practice includes
• Meditation instructions • Sitting and walking meditation • Q&A • A Dharma talk • Loving Kindness meditation
What to bring:
• Please bring cushions if sitting on the floor • Bring with you shawl, blanket, yoga mat for lying down • Please bring a vegetarian dish to share for lunch
A small payment of $10 on the day would be helpful in paying for the venue. No pre- booking is required. However, please email: christineheartwoodthompson(at)yahoo.com.au to register your interest and for further information.
Following Buddhist practice, the teachings are given freely as Dana. You may wish to offer Dana in return.
